Maria & Tomas Tjärnström

We live on the middle swedish countryside in a small village with long history since the middle ages. It is named Kungsgården which means "Royal Manor". Our home is a small farm with an old log house from the middle of the 1800s. Our hunting ground is the wide forests which begins just around the corner. There we hunt capercailie and black grouse. The small mountain above our home is called "Storhällan" which together with the name of our village got to be our kennel name Kungshällans, which roughly means "The royal mountain´s".

We are both active hunters, and our main common interest is our dogs, hunting and spending time in nature. We mainly hunt capercailie and black grouse in the forest with our dogs, but we also make journeys in the fall and early spring to our family "mountain camp" in Kittelfjäll in the northwest part of sweden where we hunt grouse. In addition, we also hunt elk in the home forest to fill our freezer with meat, which constitute our "staple food". It is a privilege to take part of the forest's rich abundance of wild berries, mushrooms and wild meat, that is something we are very grateful for!

Our intention with Kungshällans kennel is to breed beautiful, healthy and suitable for hunting dogs with good temperaments. Our dogs are beloved family members and follows us everywhere. Our puppies are raised in the kitchen with the rest of the flock. We strive to our puppies will get good homes with active hunters who take to be the dog's innate qualities. A German shorthair is a hardworking dog that will do anything to get to be her master / mistress to please, but it requires consistent training and good obedience to the hunt will be an enjoyable experience for both hunter and dog. Although we do our best to breed dogs with good genes, it is ultimately you, as buyers who shape your dog. A very good proverb, we borrow from Råvatj kennel that bred our first dog Strimma:

"It's not enough to buy the instrument,
you must also learn to play on it! "
